Bottling Butter

Our Relief Society President sent the weekly R.S. announcements and on the email was a link to this blog Green Apple Orchard. It shows you step by step on how to can butter. Yes I said butter. I got the itch and on Wed. I canned 6 pounds of butter and ended up with 15 half pint jars. It was so easy that on Thursday I decided to can more. Kroger had a good sale on butter, $1.70 a pound. I did 18 pounds more of butter. I ended up with 45 more jars. In total I canned 60 jars of butter in two days. It only took a couple of hours each day.

Here is the starting of melting the butter.
The butter in the jars needing a good shake.
The jars of butter cooling in the refrigerator.
The finished product. This was the first day, I did not take pictures of the second day when I did 45 jars. I should have, was just to tired to find the camera. I recommend you trying this. If you have any questions give me a call it really was very easy to do. My next adventure is to can ground turkey and chicken. Wish me luck I have not done this by myself, but have been taught how to do it, but it was five years ago.

The butter is suppose to last 3 to 5 years on the shelf in a dark dry place. My mother in law was taught how to do this last week and they told her it will last forever. I don't know about that one, but I will for sure have it for a whole year.

Awesome! I never knew you could can butter. And at a $1.70/lb! I would have canned 60 bottles too.

I love canning butter. It gets a little too hot here for it because it seperates in the pantry but I still do it. I wish we had Krogers here in Gilbert. Chicken, Turkey, and Pinto Beans are super easy and the most usefull things to have on hand. Good Luck. You got the Slade Canning Bug.
